This post is a little late but I have had a lot going on and then got sick. So I am not just getting around to posting this. Last week I scored some really great deals at Walgreens, CVS, Publix, BJs, Target and Walmart. My Mother and I try to head out each Wedsnesday, or every other Wednesday to get the deals. Depending on what is on sale, almost free or free, as well as what I need for my stockpile I will get those items. Today there wasn’t much, plus not feeling well I am skipping. But here is what I scored last week and some insipration for those of you who are just getting started.

BJs Wholesale

YES, you can score some great deals at BJs because they accept MXF and their coupons! If the product is packaged with multiple products that have a barcode on each, you can use a MXF coupon per item taht has a barcode. i.e.: Toothpaste usually each come in their own box and packacged 3 together so you could usethree 75cents/1 MXF coupon and one BJs toothpaste coupons.

Total before coupons: $80.32 (Total includes taxes)
Total after coupons: $63.43 (Total includes taxes)
Savings of: $16.89

What I bought:
Kool-Aid mix, Eucerin 3pk lotion, salami and turkey lunch meat, deli cheese, 3pk perdue chicken nuggets, Totinos pizza rolls, White Castle hamburgers (needed my hometown fix!), Welch’s fruit snacks, HI-C juice boxes, Berkley & Jensen 24pk soda, and Gogurt.

The best deal I got was the BJs coupon for Free Soda 24pk if you bought the Pizza rolls and I had a coupon for the pizza rolls. Also the Eucerin cream there was a BJs coupon for and I had a MXF coupon too! So yes you can score some great deals at BJs with coupons and stock up if you ahve the room for buying in bulk.

Target

Total before coupons: $33.06
Total after coupons: $17.72
Total after previous gift cards given after a deal: $7.72 OOP!
Total Savings: $25.34

What I bought:
Jello pudding and Jello, Iams dog food, Wishbone dressing, Axe body spray, Habrio candy, Bic pens, 2 workbooks for the twins, and 2 heart mold (which I returned, they weren’t what I thought they were).

A few of the best deals here was the dog food. It was $3 and I had a $3/1 coupon making each bag FREE! The Bic pens were 99cents and I had $1 off coupon making them FREE! You can always find great deals at Target, especially looking at the clearance shelves too!

Walmart

It’s very hard to save more than you spend at Walmart, but this time I came to my goal of at least saving half of what I spend because Walmart has great prices and price matches too!

Total before coupons: $63.84
Total after coupons: $38.89
Total Savings: $24.95

What I bought:
Cake mix and frosting, Grapfruit juice, Milo’s Dog Treats, 2 organic juices, 4 boxes of Barilla pasta, 2 Johsonville Italian sausages, 3 bags of Purina One dog food, 1 Lorel Hair color, Slow Cooker liners, 2 boxes of Ziploc bags.

A few of the best deals I got were: Purina One dog food was $6.48/bag and I had $5/1 coupons making them only $1.48 a bag! The hair color I price matched with a Publix ad that was offering $2 off so it was $13.94-$2off price match and a $2off MXF coupon making the nair color kit only $$9.94! That kit is usually around $15 at Publix, CVS and Walgreens. THe Italian Sausage I really got a good deal as the cashier made a boo boo in my favor. They were $3.98ea. There was a $1 off/2 Publix coupon I wanted to match so she marked one down to $2.98, then proceeded to take $1 off as a vendor coupon. Then I had $1/1 MXF coupons. Making each sausage package $1.98ea!!

Walgreens

Total before coupons: $25.64 (this includes store special pricing)
Total after coupons: $12.38
Total Savings: $13.26 plus $2 in RR back!

What I bought:
Cottonelle bath tissue, 4 cans of Pringles, 4 Pomolive dish soaps (one is missing in pictures as I found it a week later cleaning out my car) and 2 Halls (wasn’t feeling well and needed these   )

CVS

Total before coupons: $56.18
Total after coupons: $16.18
Total Savings: $40 plus $9 in ECB bucks back!

What I bought:
5 Ragu and 1 Bertolli pasta sauces, 2 deodorants, 1 Colgate, 3 Dawn dish soaps, 2 Irish Spring Body Washes, and 6 Puffs tissue boxes.

So if you break it down with the sale items, my coupons used and ECB bucks I used from a previous purchase I got each of these items for 80cents each!!

Publix

Total before coupons: $95.65 (this does not include the BOGO and sale prices)
Total after coupons: $35.93
Total Savings: $59.72

What I bought:
4 Ocean Spray juices, 4 All laundry detergents, 2 4pk Chicken Noodle Soups, 2 Blistex’s, 4 Campbell’s soups, 1 Glade Room Spray, 2 Glass Plus cleaners, 2 V8 Smoothies, 2 Freshetta Pizzas and 2 Ball Park hot dog packages.

The ultimate deals here was the Ocean Spray juices. They were BOGO and I had BOGO coupons!! We go through a lot of this!! The Glade Fabric Air spray was on clearance for $1.19 and I had $1MXF coupon making it only 19 cents!! The All laundry detergent was 2/$7 and I had $1 off MXF making each one $2.50 for a 28 load bottle. So only 8cents a load.

 

What I have found from couponing for a few years now is you have to really take the time to sit down and do your research online. There are many sites that offer matchups already listed, each region is different in prices but come pretty close. If you create your list, and buy ONLY what is on sale or BOGO and you have a coupon for it you can really save. Of course we always have to purchase the essentials that are not on sale, but you can make it work. I have found now that Walmart does price matching, I make ALL of my stores lists, and organize my coupons in my binder per-store, then shop at Walmart and figure out the price matching there. If it’s cheaper I buy at Walmart, and mark it off my other stores list.

If you are just getting started, TAKE YOUR TIME! It is overwhelming but has lots of rewards in the end. Some people take what they save and put it in a savings fund for vacation, new car, etc. We have not done that yet as we want to pay off our debt first, then we will do just that. I was keeping track last year for what I saved just by using coupons. For just last year I saved approx. $4,500 using coupons, sales, BOGO offers, and rebates.
